Moisturizer Inventory 2019

Beauty Inventory | Moisturizers 2019

This category covers cream, gel, and oil / oil-based moisturizers. 2019 moisturizer count is 5 — two (2) if we exclude the ones I only use for the body. There’s a separate category for body lotions, but I already took photos for this post so here we are 😅. Lixirskin Universal Emulsion I love this moisturizer because I can use it everywhere, even on the perimeter of my eyes and on the lips. It’s cream-type but somewhat runny. It moisturizes my skin well, but note I’m oily. I’m almost done with the tube and I will review it in more…

Beauty Inventory | Toners and Essences

Same as last year, I own two (2) toners/ essences. CosRx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (Php 999 / 100ml beautybar.com.ph) I bought CosRx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (BBPL) to replace two toners I finished a few months back — CosRx Two-In-One Poreless Power Liquid (TPPL) and AcneDote 2% Salicylic Acid Astringent Toner. The BBPL formula seems to have changed or they have a different formula sold in Korea (I asked a friend to buy this for me when she went there earlier this year). Based on the COSRX website, the Betaine Salicylate in this product is supposed to be at…

Summer 2019 Go-To Look 1

I’m sure it’s still summer in other parts of the world so I’m writing this even when the monsoon season in 🇵🇭 has already started. I got inspired by Hello Vanya’s post. Here’s one of my go-to makeup looks — ** Products marked with double-asterisks were gifts from friends FACE BASE – Nivea Sun UV Face Sunscreen and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer Several weeks ago Phoebe introduced me to Shelbey Wilson’s YouTube channel. I don’t know how I didn’t know about her! Her eyelids are the same as mine and her channel is focused more on makeup techniques than…

Retinoids and Vitamin C Serum Inventory 2019

Beauty Inventory | Actives (Vitamin C Serums) + Reviews

Vitamin C Serum Count: 2(same as last year) Thoughts on the last 2 Vitamin C serums I used up — The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F I like the feel and texture of this. It’s oil, but it doesn’t feel greasy. It’s also quite thin. I’m not repurchasing because I don’t know if it did anything for my skin. Purito Pure Vitamin C Serum This is my first ascorbic acid Vitamin C serum. I think it helped even out my skintone and prevented dark marks from forming. It claims to have 10% Vitamin C, 84% Hyaluronic Acid,…

Time to Regroup | Mid-year No-Buy Update

My no-buy hasn’t been going well since May. I used stress and my birthday as excuses to shop. I don’t know if regroup is the right word for this since there’s no one to literally regroup but me, but something of the sort is definitely in order. I made an adjustment to my rules and started implementing a few things. I logged off Instagram I’ve been documenting my empties and no-buy-related activities on Instagram, but lately it’s been counterproductive. I mostly follow candid skincare and makeup enthusiasts and I find their influence stronger than people actually influencing for a living….

Cold Brew

The First Time I Made Cold Brew Coffee

I first thought of experimenting with making cold brew coffee when we were gifted with a huge tub of coarsely ground coffee beans. I thought, hey, since the beans are free I won’t feel so bad if the coffee doesn’t turn out good. Cold brewing is literally brewing coffee in cold (or room temperature) water. It’s steeped for 12-24 hours. The result is supposed to be coffee that’s smoother and less acidic. It also doesn’t go bad when stored in the refrigerator for up to a week in my experience. I read some articles that you can store it for…
