The Lipstick I Usually Wear On A Date

Day 4: Lipstick You’d Wear On A Date
20-Day Lipstick Challenge

I think I’ve matured. If I had already been wearing lipstick when I started dating Eric, I might’ve been someone who would wear whatever color I wanted even when that color would make him feel uncomfortable.

We’ve been together for almost 7 years and I think he deserves to go out on a date with me not wearing a blackened purple lipstick. Before anyone jumps into conclusions, it’s not that I am wearing makeup for him solely. It’s more about being considerate. I know he doesn’t prefer the darkest of dark lipsticks on me, so I try to avoid those when we spend solo time with each other. I’d like to think that if he had a shirt that I didn’t like, he would make a mental note and not wear it on a date with me, too.

OFRA Laguna Beach

Eric respects my makeup preferences, but he tells me what he doesn’t like. It doesn’t take much of me to wear soft pink or my-lips-but-better colors, anyway. Sometimes I bust out a wine red, he’s fine with it, but most times, I stick with ‘safer’ colors.

Lately, I’ve been picking up OFRA Laguna Beach (worn in the photo above) a lot on date days (actually, even on non-date days). It reminds me a lot of MAC Please Me, but I prefer Laguna Beach because it doesn’t make my lips look dry and pasty.

For me, this is one of the more interesting categories in the 20-Day Lipstick Challenge. How does one decide which colors are best or appropriate for a date?
