Beauty Inventory | Chemical Exfoliants and Acid Toners

From last year’s 3, I’m down to 2 chemical exfoliators.

Chemical Exfoliants 2019

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

I only use this on the areas of my face that are prone to blackheads (i.e., my nose). It’s gel-type, and feels and dries like raw egg whites. I wish The Ordinary products have a more elegant texture. I guess they have to sacrifice something to keep their prices low.

It took me a while to finish this because I prefer Alba Botanica AcneDote Lotion that also has 2% Salicylic Acid but comes in a cream-type moisturizing base.

Anyway, I recently started using this on my pits (1-2x/week) and I think this product helped make it smoother.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

This is probably the only Glycolic Acid product I tried that didn’t break me out granted, it’s a rinse-off product, but I’m surprised considering the strength.

I don’t use it regularly, just on days when my face feels rough.

I once left it on for 40 minutes because I fell asleep. I thought I erased my face but I survived. My face didn’t turn red or feel raw. I don’t understand how it’s gentle. 30% AHA seems like a lot. When I finish this, I might try Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner.

The only thing I don’t have from last year is COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol. I shared the bottle with my husband but we can’t tell if it did anything.

  1. I’m curious. I should be on Reddit more often. Haha. Yes to another sunscreen series!

    1. Yes! My faves are r/skincareaddiction and r/AsianBeauty athough I try to limit going there now because it triggers spending.

  2. i like the putting it on the kili-kili idea! I’m looking back at your sun protection entries for the summer. Have you tried La Roche Posay tinted sunscreen? I want to try it next bec it was recommended by 2 dermatologists (sa YT lang) but it’s a bit mahal and I still have samples from Eucerin SPF. I wasn’t considering Shiseido because I just assumed it’s too pricey but after reading your review I checked it out and it might be good value for money depending on what one is looking for. The reviews you posted have been really helpful. 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’ve been wanting to try La Roche-Posay (LRP) for so long but I don’t know where to find it. Incidentally, I saw a photo on reddit where they applied at least 16 sunscreens on their back and the LRP area of the back had one of the least skin darkening and redness after skin exposure.

I have a Shiseido Wetforce Sunscreen now and it is AMAZING. Just really pricy 😭

I might do a sunscreen series again soon. I think I have 6 at the moment.
