I’m sure it’s still summer in other parts of the world so I’m writing this even when the monsoon season in 🇵🇭 has already started. I got inspired by Hello Vanya’s post.
Here’s one of my go-to makeup looks —
** Products marked with double-asterisks were gifts from friends
FACE BASE – Nivea Sun UV Face Sunscreen and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer
Several weeks ago Phoebe introduced me to Shelbey Wilson’s YouTube channel. I don’t know how I didn’t know about her! Her eyelids are the same as mine and her channel is focused more on makeup techniques than shilling products.
In one of Shelbey’s videos she demonstrated layering a mix of sunscreen and foundation over sunscreen. I’m in love with the result. Longevity and finish-wise, I don’t notice a difference, but it made Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer easier to sheer out. I used to dilute Kevyn Aucoin with dry face oil, but w/ Shelbey’s technique, there’s less chance of rubbing off the sunscreen underneath.
SETTING POWDER – Wet ‘n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder
I use this as a finishing powder. I don’t know if it actually sets foundation but it tones down the shine to a matte-r but satin finish. I don’t like the matte look on my skin; it ages me.
BLUSH – Tarte Amazonian Clay 24-Hour Blush in Daydream**
I don’t necessarily use this every day but it’s my go-to blush when my lipstick is not warm-toned. Tarte blushes last long — at least as long as your foundation would. Daydream is a mid-tone pink with the tiniest hint of plum. It works well with my mauve and rosey pink lipsticks. It’s part of a holiday set and I can’t find it on the Tarte website anymore.
HIGHLIGHT – Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight Cream
I’m dreading the day I use this up because the only way to get it again is to buy the contour book/palette which I can’t see myself doing. I like this highlighter because it looks like sheen instead of glitter. I’m eyeing Art Deco Strobing Cream or RMS Luminizer as replacement.
LIPS – Happy Skin Moisturizing Matte Lipstick in #Goals
#Goals is a muted rosey brown-pink shade and one of my new favorite my-lips-but-better lipsticks.
I usually wear mascara but at the time of this post, I just had a stye so I can’t wear eye makeup.
I also wear a brow setter. I’m using Sunnies Face Brow Gel** (the darker of the 2 shades) in the photo, but I feel ambivalent about it. My brow hairs are black and the latter makes my brows look like there’s very fine sand stuck on them. My friend, who gifted me with the wand, told me my brows look like dog hair (if the dog had brown hair). My go-to is Benefit 24H Brow Setter, which is clear ~but ₱₱₱₱ 😦
Every 3-4 hours, I blot my face w/ tissue. I don’t care much for oil-control. I’m good as long as the makeup doesn’t break down in an unflattering way.
