Makeup and Skincare Low-Buy 2018 – 1st Quarter Update

Part of my 2018 focus points is to be extra frugal. I have been successful on the makeup-and-skincare front. Here is the result of my low-buy for the 1st quarter.

Purge Pile 2018 – Vol. 1

Semi-regularly, I go through my vanity to look for stuff to give away so they don’t go expired with me. Unfortunately, I found 4 products that went bad. It could be hard to believe but I loved all of them. This is the reality of buying more than you need; You could end up with many things going bad if you’re not on top of shelf lives and expiration dates. The Face Shop Miracle Finish Long-lasting CC Cushion | V205 Dark Beige This is one of the face bases that got me a lot of compliments. It’s skin-like, semi-dewy, diffuses pores,…

2018 Focus Points

Not considering everything happening in the world, my 2017 ended well. I started the “Year of Rae” project where I would make deliberate changes to get more of my sh*t together. I was supposed to document this for accountability but the looming thought that I need to write about my activities afterwards, as I simultaneously figure out how I would do what I need to do felt overwhelming. I focused all my efforts on ‘just doing it’ which ended up being a good decision. In 2018, I want to focus on 3 areas–personal finance, health and fitness, and personal growth. I’ll…

Toss or Keep: MAC Sin, Inglot 412, MAC D for Danger, and Estee Lauder Commanding

I’ll give Marie Kondo a run for her money once my book comes out titled The Life-Changing Magic of Using The Candy Crush Technique in Letting Go of Lipsticks. The Candy Crush Technique is when you group lipsticks by color and hope that they explode and choose JUST ONE lipstick from each group. My red lipstick destashing project is on-going, and so far, I’ve found 2 pairs of lipsticks that have the same-ish color.

The Lipstick I Usually Wear On A Date

Day 4: Lipstick You’d Wear On A Date 20-Day Lipstick Challenge I think I’ve matured. If I had already been wearing lipstick when I started dating Eric, I might’ve been someone who would wear whatever color I wanted even when that color would make him feel uncomfortable. We’ve been together for almost 7 years and I think he deserves to go out on a date with me not wearing a blackened purple lipstick. Before anyone jumps into conclusions, it’s not that I am wearing makeup for him solely. It’s more about being considerate. I know he doesn’t prefer the darkest…

Toss or Keep: L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Foundation Review + Comparison Swatches

Project Toss or Keep — where I would use one foundation for most of the month and decide if I would toss or keep it. I was looking to replace my L’Oreal Lucent Magique when I first saw the True Match Super-Blendable line. Unfortunately, I didn’t match with any of their “W” colors. The sales assistant (SA) almost forced me to settle with W4 instead. To be fair, it was a good recommendation since W4 was indeed the closest match out of all available shades. However, I’m really particular about getting the right undertone when it comes to foundations. Color A few weeks after…
