Evening Skincare Routine – End of 2017 Update

I had my teeth cleaned a few weeks ago and my dentist mentioned how good my skin looks. I usually attribute skin compliments to whatever foundation I’m wearing, but I wasn’t wearing any foundation that day so it must be my skincare routine for the second half of the year (the last time she saw me was August). I thought, it’s about time I post this long overdue installment. Click the link for my Morning Skincare Routine. Step 1. Remove Makeup (First Cleanse) I just finished my PureVivi Micellar Water, my favorite cleansing water! This is what I use on nights when…

Morning Skincare Routine – Mid-2017

Save for when I don’t sleep or when I have my period, my skin has been behaving really well. I’ve been trying out different brands and products over the past several years, but I generally stick to the same active ingredients –vitamin c (or its derivatives), retinoids, niacinamide, and spf (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide). Since February, though, I have been sticking to the same products and I noticed I’m no way near getting bored of them. My skin is far from perfect but I think it moved past a plateau, thanks to the new products I switched to. I’m…

New Products I NEED to Rave About feat. Laneige, Etude House, and PureVivi

I find it a chore to write about hauls, which I prefer just calling ‘new purchases’. But recently I bought products that are so good it would be a disservice to beauty blogosphere if I didn’t share them. PureVivi Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin I used to say all micellar water products are the same. Well, I’m taking that back. This makeup remover not only removes makeup, it also makes my skin look better. It wasn’t apparent to me the first few times I used it because it’s hard to isolate which product is doing what–and I was testing out…

How to Use Maxi-Peel: Step-by-Step Skin Guide

Disclaimer: I’m not using maxi-peel anymore and I probably won’t use it again in the near future. I’m currently on tretinoin cream and it’s been working great. Also, I didn’t start treating my acne with maxi-peel. I initially used products a dermatologist prescribed which included a toner similar to maxi-peel (also has tretinoin and hydroquinone albeit in a stronger concentration). If you haven’t seen my post on that toner yet, I recommend reading that first before proceeding with the rest of the post (Read: My Acne Prescription from Aesthetic Science Clinic). If I were to use maxi-peel again, I would do this: Pre-use:…

My Acne Skin Care Prescription from Aesthetic Science Clinic

Since posting about Maxi-Peel exfoliant solution, I’ve gotten a few requests/questions about how to use Maxi Peel step-by-step, how to deal with the peeling, what moisturizers to use, and how to go about sun protection. Before we go there, I’ll tell you about my skin first and what got me to try the product. BACKGROUND Before: My acne during my teens wasn’t that bad. I’ve always had acne but I’d consider it mild. I get tiny pimples here and there but I wasn’t really bothered by it. They’re always just small ones, not a pretty sight, but I dealt with it. My…

Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution Review

The 5-years-ago version of me, would never have foreseen the present me writing about Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution, but here we are. I was (and still am) annoyed by the kutis-artista* tagline and the inference that to achieve “kutis-artista”, you must have lighter skin. I stumbled upon this product when I was looking for a cheaper, more accessible alternative to a product that a dermatologist prescribed me — CHAT 2% Solution. The active ingredients in CHAT 2% are Clindamycin Phosphate, Hydroquinone, Alum, and Tretinoin. I couldn’t find a product with these actives except for a toner being sold at Belo Clinics…
