MAC Matte Lipstick in Please Me — A Light Lipstick For A Change

Everyday lipsticks, for me, aren’t MLBB-type colors. I usually wear either strong or deep colors to compensate for lack of eye makeup. Last week, though, I’ve been using MAC Please Me (matte) a lot. It’s still not a natural-looking lipstick, but it’s a lot different from what I’m used to. It pulls slightly lilac pink in the photo but MAC describes it as a muted rosy-tinted pink. I don’t know how that’s supposed to look like. I’d describe it as muted barbie pink. Advertisements

MAC Taupe Matte Lipstick Review and Swatches

There was a time when I didn’t own any nude-y neutral lipstick and it kept me from wearing colorful eyeshadows. I’m not yet skilled enough to make a strong colored lip and eye makeup work. I thought that a brown neutral matte is the way to go. I spent several weeks choosing between Taupe and Velvet Teddy. I ended up buying the latter first. I was afraid that Taupe was too dark brown. I was at my lightest when I first wore velvet teddy and it looked ok, but when I got tanner, it made me look sickly so I passed it…

Foundation Inventory + The Perfect Foundation Tag

The questions for this tag make me feel like a presentor for the Oscars of foundation. Does ‘Oscar’ care for makeup? Let’s name this The Cleopatra instead. (‘And the Cleopatra goes to…’ — has a ring to it, right?). Anyway, here’s a photo of all of my foundations, primers, powders, and a concealer that I mix with a water-based moisturizer. Note: I don’t have the Myra VitaGlow BB Cream anymore because I already gave it away. Best Packaging I admit that my foundation shopping decision-making process is nonsensical. But in all of the times I’ve impulsively purchased a foundation, I’m sure that packaging was never…

MAC Heroine Lipstick Review and Swatches: A Relatively Wearable Purple

I recently edited my lipsticks and finally decided on which colors/ products to keep — and yeah, Heroine made the cut. If you showed me a swatch of Heroine a year ago, I’m sure I would not use wearable as a word to describe it. Funny how “wearable” changes over time.   The color on the tube is a really crazy scary color.  I almost just ignored it when I saw it. It seemed like an impractical buy — something I can only wear to costume parties (and I don’t go to costume parties). But being the stubborn woman that I am, I swatched it on my lips.  I didn’t want what-ifs lingering at the…

My Lipstick Story

I only started wearing and exploring lipsticks about a year and a half ago, when I was employed by a company in the health and beauty industry. When I say lipstick, I meant, those in-your-face ones that don’t get people confused if it’s really lipstick or just a tinted lip balm. I remember that two of the first lipsticks I bought were Ever Bilena’s matte lipsticks, Mirrored Mocha and Mauvey. Both are MLBB-type lipsticks and I only wore them during management meetings where everyone else looked professionally dolled up. My lipstick adventure progressed when one time, while preparing for a…
